WHO IS ALLAH?

Last Updated: November 2023

The history of human connectivity with Allah is as old as human history itself. Humans, from the beginning of their origination, are aware of the presence of Allah. This awareness is encoded in their genes. It is the same as they genetically know what to look for when they are thirsty or hungry – they are genetically aware of water and food.

……..Your Rubb summoned the descendants of Adam, and made them testify about themselves. “Am I not your Rubb?”  They said, “Yes we testify.” Thus, you cannot say on the Day of Resurrection, “We were unaware of this.” (7: 172)

To approach food, one needs to be hungry. Whoever is not hungry has no interest in food. Similarly, knowledge of the right food is also required, even if it is in the genes of what to do when hungry. Knowledge of the right food is important because the wrong food might cause sickness or even death. If we apply this example to the genetic awareness of Allah in humans, we can understand that one who needs Him, identifies Him easily [Allah is the psychological need of humans: [details in Chapter Six]. Whereas one who has no appetite/passion for religion, stays unaware of His presence. Knowledge of right food is important, even if it is in the genes of what to do when hungry. Similarly, knowledge of the Right Guiding Source is also important even if it is in the genes that there exists The Guiding Source.

Mistake in identifying the Right Guiding Source might put a person in trouble. Allah, therefore, made it incumbent upon Himself to guide humanity throughout the time.

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance (92: 12)

……………….and to every community is a guide (13: 7)

And for every nation is a messenger……………………… (10: 47)

……………….. For every era is a scripture [a written message/command] (13: 38)

Allah kept sending His messengers to humanity to remind them of Himself.

He sends down the angels, with the inspiration of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants/messengers [telling them], “warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me” (16: 2)

It is because of genetic awareness that billions of people believe in the existence of Allah, even though He is unnoticeable to their senses. Every messenger and every Divine Book refer to the same God – Allah. It is because of genetic awareness that whenever His messengers received His Message, they recognized where it was from. The introduction of Allah had never been unfamiliar to them.

These are some of the prophets Allah has blessed, from the descendants of Adam, and from those We carried with Noah, and from the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and from those We guided and selected. Whenever the revelations of the Most Gracious are recited to them, they would fall down, prostrating and weeping (19: 58)

Allah is your Rubb, and the Rubb of your ancestors. (37: 126)

…… “Call Him Allah or call Him the Most Merciful [Ar Rahman]. Whichever name you use, to Him belong the Best Names.”…………………… (17: 110)

And it is He who created the heavens and earth in truth……..(6: 73)

Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs (39: 62) [The proofs have been given in Chapter Eight]

He does not need any effort to create a thing.

……. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes (19: 35)

To Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and what lies in them, and He has power over everything (5: 120)

In Chapter Six and Chapter Eight, we have learned how the universe originated from a single point. What lies within the universe is observable whereas what is outside the universe is beyond human imagination.

Vision perceives Him not, but He perceives [all] vision; and He is the Subtle, the Acquainted. (6: 103)

Praise the name of your Rubb, the Most High. He who creates and regulates. He who measures and guides (87: 1-3)

He was the First Who existed before the creation of the universe; and He will be the One Who will maintain His existence even when the universe comes to an end. He controls what is outside the universe and what lies within it.

He is the First and the Last, and the Outer and the Inner, and He has knowledge of all things (57: 3)

Allah – there is no deity except Him, The Ever- Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi [Throne] extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. (2: 255)

Blessed is He who placed constellations in the sky, and placed in it a lamp, and an illuminating moon (25: 61)

And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darkness of the land and sea……………. (6: 97)

It is He who created for you everything on earth…………………. (2: 29)

…………… And He produces the heavy clouds (13: 12)

And it is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds………….. (35: 9)

He who made the earth a habitat for you; and traced in it routes for you; and sent down water from the sky, with which We produce pair of diverse plants (20: 53)

It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat (40: 79)

[it is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite (36: 80)

And it is He who merged the two seas; this one fresh and sweet, and that one salty and bitter; and He placed between them a barrier, and an impassable boundary (25: 53)

And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful. (16: 14)

……….He knows what penetrates into the earth, and what comes out of it, and what descends from the sky, and what ascends to it……………. (57: 4)

To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and what is between them and what is under the soil (20: 6)

It is Allah Who splits the grain and the seed. He brings the living from the dead, and He brings the dead from the living. Such is Allah…………………. (6: 95)

To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He gives life and causes death, and He has power over all things (57: 2)

Nothing is hidden from Allah, on earth or in the heaven. (3: 5)

With Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except He. And He knows everything on land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but He knows it; and there is not a single grain in the darkness of earth, nor is there anything wet or dry [biologically living or nonliving], but is in a clear record (6: 59)

………No fruit emerges from its sheath, and no female conceives or delivers, except with His knowledge…….. (41: 47)

He is Allah; the Creator, the Maker, the Designer. His are the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him. He is the Majestic, the Wise (59: 24)

……………He is with you wherever you are. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing (57: 4)

He knows the deceptions of the eyes, and what the hearts conceal (40: 19)

To Him belongs whatever rests in the night and the day. He is the Hearing, the Knowing (6: 13)

He is Allah. There is no god but He, the Knower of secrets and declarations. He is the Compassionate, the Merciful (59: 22)

And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep (53: 43)

And that it is He who enriches and suffices (53: 48)

…………….He is your Protector. What an excellent Protector, and what an excellent Helper (22: 78)

Whatever mercy Allah unfolds for the people, none can withhold it. And if He withholds it, none can release it thereafter. He is the Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom (35: 2)

Allah is the psychological need of humans:

And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do (42: 25)

…………He is Exalted in Might, the perpetual Forgiver (39: 5)

Forgiver of sins [mistakes], Accepter of repentance, Severe in punishment, Bountiful in bounty. There is no god but He. To Him is the ultimate return (40: 3)

He is Allah; besides Whom there is no god; the Sovereign, The Holy, the Peace-Giver, the Faith-Giver, the Overseer, the Almighty, the Overwhelming……………..(59: 23)

……………Allah is free from the needs of the worlds. (3: 97)

………….He feeds and is not fed…………(6: 14)

Science admits that nothing is everlasting, and neither is the universe. However, it cannot tell us what will happen next when the universe comes to an end. It is Only Allah who has informed humanity about life after death [details have already been given in Chapter Six].

Allah is the Knower of the future of the heavens and the earth………….. (35: 38)

The Knower of the Invisible and the Visible; the Grand, the Supreme (13: 9)

Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal (3: 2)

It is He who initiates creation, and then repeats it, something easy for Him. His is the highest attribute, in the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty, the Wise (30: 27)

To Allah belongs the Last [Hereafter] and the First [creation] (53: 25)

… to Allah belongs [all] praise – Rubb of the heavens and Rubb of the earth, Rubb of the [both] worlds (45: 36)

Praise be to Allah, to Whom belongs everything in the heavens and the earth; and praise be to Him in the Hereafter. He is the Wise, the Expert (34: 1)

Such is Allah, your Rubb – the True. What is there, beyond the truth, except falsehood? How are you turned away? (10 :32)

That is Allah; there is no deity except Him, the Creator of all things, so worship [obey] Him. And He is Disposer of all things (6: 102)

He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Rubb of the worlds (40: 65)

Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion……………………. (39: 3)

So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it (40: 14)

………. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray. (2: 198)

And glorify Him morning and evening. It is He who reaches out to you, and His angels, to bring you out of darkness into the light. And He is Ever-Merciful towards the believers (33: 42-43)

And put your trust in the Living, the One who never dies; and celebrate His praise. He suffices as the All-Informed Knower of the faults of His creatures (25: 58)

And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing (7: 180)

……Allah is Strong, Able to Avenge. (14: 47)

Everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Allah, the Sovereign, the Holy, the Almighty, the Wise (62:1)

So glorify the Name of your Rubb, the Magnificent. (56: 96)

Say, “He is Allah, the One. Allah the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is nothing comparable to Him.” (112: 1-4)

Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Rubb of the [both] worlds. (6: 162)
